Shielded AC Isolation Transformers

A Shielded AC Isolation Transformer is very similar to a standard isolation transformer, however, they also have a “shielding.”  This shielding is fully metalisized and is often constructed of aluminum or copper, located between the primary and secondary windings.  Shielded AC Isolation Transformers are commonly referred to as being electrostatic shielded.  This electrostatic shield or “Faraday Shield” is connected to earth grounds and filters voltage spikes.  The shield also filters common mode noise.
